About MeMy name is Molly Tranel and I am a senior at Loras College majoring in Elementary Education with an endorsement in mathematics. My formal education began by attending St. Joseph's School in Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, and was continued by attending Wahlert Catholic High School. While attending these schools, I was involved in many athletics, including volleyball and basketball. I was also an active member of campus ministry, helping plan and organize mass and prayer services. Since my years of joining the Loras College community, I have served as the President of the eDUcation club, volunteered with AmeriCorps at the Multicultural Family Center, and worked as a Peer Assistant for first-year students.

Why elementary education? |
Teaching has not always been my plan. Actually, upon entering college, I was a nursing major, but shortly realized that I was dissatisfied with my decision. In search for finding my vocation, I applied to volunteer with AmeriCorps. During my time with AmeriCorps, I worked at Audubon Elementary School with students grades 2-5 on reading and math. It was through the work I did and the relationships I built with students that I started to consider a major in education. After completing my first education class, I realized education was the right profession for me. I am passionate about learning and discovering new aspects of the world, and I hope to instill this attitude in my students. Through teaching, I can foster student's curiosities and inquires about the world around them and help them become active members of the community.

Faith & Service |
Faith and service are important aspects of my life that have helped shape me into the person I am today. I grew up in a Catholic household and have attended a Catholic institution for the entirety of my schooling. My faith is the driving force behind my daily actions and my personal goals. To put my faith into practice, I have gone on three service trips. Through these trips, I have gained an appreciation and understanding for different cultures, as well as my own. It is my goal to continue doing service through my community and the greater community.

Hobbies |
When I am not working or studying, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love being out in nature, particularly hiking and exploring at the Mines of Spain and Swiss Valley. I also enjoy playing recreational sand and court volleyball, as well as scrap-booking fun and important events in my life.
